Liszt's Lost Opera Premieres in Germany

What treasures await you in this week's link roundup? Only one way to find out...

1. Let's get the ball rolling with an oldie-but-a-goodie: we'll never not giggle watching Mr. Bean play Beethoven.

2. Sometimes, you just have a song in your heart... and sometimes you're a bird who won't stop yelling at the dulcian player serenading you from his window.

3. This Etsy store is called "Great Animal Composers," and yes, it's exactly what you think it is.

4. Want to hear a working trench organ from World War I? Now you can:

5. Franz Liszt's lost opera, Sardanapalo, premiered this week in Germany with the Staatskapelle Weimar. It took a Cambridge scholar 3 years to piece the work together from Liszt's 111 pages of notes, sketches, and completed sections of the work.

6. And last but not least: what happens when conductor and soloist... swap places? Gustavo Dudamel and Itzhak Perlman show us how it's done.
