On WCRB In Concert with the Concord Chamber Music Society, the Los Angeles-based Calidore String Quartet brings their signature vitality and virtuosity to works by Haydn, Mendelssohn, and Caroline Shaw.

Out of the Box is a new feature on WCRB focusing both on recent releases and on music that lands outside the typical classical "strike zone." And this inaugural Out of the Box feature accomplishes both, with unmatched grace, elegance, and fire. 

March 8 is International Women's Day. Classical music is a field with a pretty thick glass ceiling, so we spent the day highlighting the women who have chipped away at it. Here are just a few of the incredible women - past and present - who make great music, and who make music great.
