The Adaskin String Trio teams up with Ensemble Schumann in three of Mozart's chamber works.
When we think of Mozart we often think of his larger symphonic works: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, or his symphonies or piano concertos. Less widely known, but just as impressive, are his chamber works: pieces for small groups of musicians. Mozart wrote many of these pieces to play with his friends, and this week's CD of the week continues that tradition. The Adaskin String Trio and Ensemble Schumann combine forces on this album, creating a warm, energetic sound that can only be achieved when the musicians truly enjoy playing together.
For the week of what would be Mozart's 261st birthday, we're thrilled to bring you this CD of the Week. Tracks 1-3 and 7-9 were recorded here, in our Fraser Performance Studio, where many of our listeners have attended chamber music recitals over the past several years.
