The Boston Pops takes over today as producer of the annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, according to a press release from the orchestra.
The annual tradition began 43 years ago, with Pops Conductor Arthur Fiedler and Boston philanthropist and businessman David Mugar. In previous years, the concerts were produced by David Mugar's company, Boston 4 Productions.
"I am very pleased that the baton has been passed to the next generation," said Mugar. "The Pops will be outstanding stewards of a Boston tradition and I know for certain will lead the event into new chapters of success."
