Baiba Skride

Latvian violinist Baiba Skride returns to the Boston Symphony for Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 2, and Andris Nelsons conducts in the world premiere of Steven Mackey’s Concerto for Curved Space as well as Brahms’s Symphony No. 4.

In an encore Boston Symphony Orchestra broadcast, Latvian violinist Baiba Skride is the soloist in Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1, and Andris Nelsons leads the orchestra in works by Pärt and Stravinsky, as well as Saariaho’s "Saarikoski Songs," with soprano Anu Komsi.

In an encore broadcast from the 2021 Tanglewood season, the Latvian violinist is the soloist in Sibelius’s majestic Violin Concerto, and Andris Nelsons leads the BSO in Dvorák’s Symphony No. 6.
